Research:

I am an honorary Research Fellow; among the numerous awards I have received during my career at the UFS, are certificates as Top Research Fellow in the Afromontane Research Unit on the UFS Qwaqwa Campus in both 2018 and 2019. In 2018, I was also awarded the Lifelong Researcher award by the UFS Qwaqwa Campus.

Since retiring, I have published a number of articles and books on various aspects of fauna and flora.

The articles include – in 2007, lead author in the Uniqwa Research Chronicle: ‘A checklist of the vascular plants of QwaQwa and notes on the flora and vegetation of the area’. In a joint paper in 2018 in the South African Journal of Botany: ‘A review of the ethnobotany of the Basotho of Lesotho and the Free State Province of South Africa’ (South Sotho).

Among the books are – in 2010, Sesotho names of plants and animals and plants used by the Basotho. In 2014, A biographical dictionary of contributors to the natural history of the Free State and Lesotho; and in 2016 and 2020, Meriana ya dimela tsa Basotho – Basotho medicinal plants. Also in 2020, A Scientific Bibliography of the Drakensberg, Maloti and adjacent Lowlands.
