Short CV

Highest Academic Qualification: MBA I am employed in the Department of Industrial Psychology where I lecture Training Management (TRG314). This subject has a strong practical approach and many students in other faculties take it as an additional subject. The practical training takes place through community service projects in the Free State district. I am researching inter alia the effect of community service learning on the cognitive abilities and academic performance of students. Training is my passion and I am involved in various training projects at the UFS and privately. I believe that training will play an increasingly bigger role in all industries, not only the human resource industry, due to new legislation. I am interested in how one can transform the so-called adult learner into a lifelong learner. The effectiveness of organisations depends on personnel’s ability to learn, retain, understand, apply, evaluate and finally be creative and do or design new things with what they have learned. The learning styles of adults vary and therefore different learning methodologies will have different effects on the “learning” of various people. Using four different methodologies on 5 different people will not be cost effective or time efficient. Which method would one use to include all the learning styles, thereby ensuring that everyone learns effectively? This encompasses my field of study and it is also included in my teaching. In this way, I am able to add value to the undergraduate teaching of students.
