The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) on the Qwaqwa Campus was established in 2013. The centre resulted from a merger of the Centre for Higher Education and Staff Development and various student learning support and development units. It started off with two permanent staff members in 2013, and currently we have twenty permanent staff members and well over 150 temporary appointees which include, but is not limited to learning facilitators, teaching assistants, tutors, and English writing consultants. CTL serves over 50% of the student population each year in various aspects of student learning development and support.
The CTL Qwaqwa Campus focus areas correspond with the CTL Bloemfontein Campus focus areas. These include:
- Academic Staff and Leadership Development (ASLD)
- Curriculum Delivery and Innovation (CDI)
- Evidence-based Change (EBC)

- High Impact Practice: Academic Advising (AA)
