2016 Postgraduate Teaching: Health Professions Education Programme (HPE):


The following aspects were attended to in 2016:

  • Study assistance to various master's (M) and PhD candidates in the programme (planning of protocols, discussions concerning study approach, guidance with regard to study choices, literature studies, the design of questionnaires, etc.) (J Bezuidenhout, MP Jama, C van Wyk)
  • Supervision in 2016 (J Bezuidenhout: promoter/co-promoter for six PhD candidates and study leader/co-study leader two master's candidates); (C van Wyk study leader/co-study leader for two M candidates and two PhD candidates); (MP Jama: promoter for three PhD candidates and two M candidates)
  • As part of Module HPER7905, Research Training was presented, and the following topics were presented, namely: The Delphi Technique (Prof V Louw); Reference techniques (Ms A du Preez).
  • HPE SUPERVISOR’S TRAINING: Presenter: Dr J Bezuidenhout, 25 May.
  • HPE BOOTCAMP: Academic Writing training sessions were presented in the form of workshops and seminars for M and PhD candidates.13-15 April (Intermediate); 5-7 September (Beginners); 8-10 November (Advanced). Presented by: Dr J Bezuidenhout, Ms EP Robberts.
  • HPE ARTICLE WRITING WORKSHOP: Presenter:Dr J. Bezuidenhout. Guest presenter: Dr D. Struwig. 19 August.
  • HPE ARTICLE-WRITING WORKSHOP: Presenters: Dr J Bezuidenhout, Dr C van Wyk. 23-25 November.
  • HPE PROTOCOL-WRITING WORKSHOP: Presenters: Dr J. Bezuidenhout, Ms EP Robberts. 28, 29 November.

  • Supervision in 2015 (SB Kruger promoter/co-promoter for four PhD candidates and study leader/co-study leader for four M candidates);(J. Bezuidenhout: promoter/co-promoter for eight Ph.D. candidates and study leader/co-study leader three M. candidates); (C. van Wyk study leader/co-study leader for three M. candidates); (MP Jama: promoter for two PhD candidates and two M candidates)
  • As part of Module HPER7905, Research Training was presented, and the following topics were presented namely: EvaSys Management Survey system (Ms E Moroeroe); The Delphi Technique (Prof V Louw); Completing Ethics forms (Dr J Bezuidenhout), Mixed-methods Research (Dr Lynette van der Merwe).
  • HPE BOOTCAMP: Postgraduate training sessions were presented in the form of workshops and seminars for M and PhD candidates; 22-24 April, 4-6 August; 4-6 November. Presented by: Dr J Bezuidenhout, Dr SB Kruger.
  • HPE ARTICLE-WRITING WORKSHOP: Presenters: Dr J Bezuidenhout, Dr SB Kruger; 28-30 September.
  • HPE PROTOCOL-WRITING WORKSHOP: Presenters: Dr J Bezuidenhout, Ms EP Roberts; 26, 27 November.

  • Module HPE703 was presented in the form of Research Training, and the following topics were presented during the following sessions:
    Protocol-writing workshop (Dr J Bezuidenhout); Evasys survey system (Ms E Mororoe); Focus-group discussions (Prof WH Kruger); The Delphi technique (Prof V Louw); Completing Ethics forms (Dr J Bezuidenhout)
  • HPE BOOTCAMP: Postgraduate training sessions was presented in the form of workshops and seminars for 20 M and PhD candidates; 15-17 April, 14-16 May, 26-28 May; 1-3 October; 6, 7 November; 19-22 November. Presented by: Prof. MM Nel; Dr J Bezuidenhout, Dr SB Kruger.
