This division attends to the advanced information technology needs of Heath Sciences. The division develops and manages a large variety of diverse data banks for administrative and research purposes, as well as advice and consultation to researchers, and entire departments, with regard to general and specific information technology and systems needs.
The division also liaises between the Faculty's clinical personnel and the Free State Department of Health, regarding hospital information systems (HIS) and related matters. The effective management of the clinical module of the hospital information systems, in order to facilitate research and access control to clinical lecturers and under- and postgraduate students to the hospital information systems is also an important component.

The division:
- Manages Information Technology in the Faculty
- Coordinates and supports departments in developing their own web pages
- Supports and develops Information Systems and Databases for the faculty and departments
- Manages the computer network and file server and controls access to ensuring data security
- Controls, maintains and develops the clinical module of the HIS in order to facilitate research
- Liaise between the Faculty's clinical personnel and the Free State Department of Health
Staff Development:
Training for administrative applications are given to assist staff with mastering additional software used for faculty specific applications. More information is available on the web page of the division for Health Sciences Education, under Staff Development.
Research Assistance:
This division assist researchers with the development of databases for the collection of research data, as well as queries to extract data from their own databases or from the hospital patient and laboratory computer systems.
