The Division Student Learning and Development (DSLD) in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of the Free State (UFS) was established in 1998 with the main focus being on the development and support of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. In 2007 the division merged with the Division Educational Development to form the Division Health Sciences Education (DHSE). In 2016, the need for focus on staff development, post-graduate training and undergraduate student development and support as well as optimal utilization of resources was identified. Hence, the two divisions were separated again to re-establish the DSLD.
