A Book Series by the Centre for Africa Studies/University of the Free State

This publication series documents the engagement of the Centre for Africa Studies (CAS) of the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein in contributing to the state of the art of African Studies. The texts offer interdisciplinary, scholarly and informed discussions on topical issues in different fields of the social sciences of relevance for African affairs.

The series promotes African analyses and values as well as sensible analyses on African issues. Through informed knowledge creation and thought provoking reflections, it offers a forum for debate. CAS collaborates closely with Wits University Press and Brill Publishers in this endeavour to generate accessible, stimulating and relevant contributions on Africa.
