Transformation Mandate

Institutional Transformation Mandate

The University of the Free State has a unique, creative, and productive take on transformation. The strategic plan (2012-2016) envisages a strong academic institution marked by distinctiveness in teaching, research and public scholarship, whilst pursuing the goals of transformation, social justice and reconciliation. The academic and human projects thus reinforce each other.

The Institute evolved as the natural home for coordinating and documenting the various transformation initiatives at the university with the following core functions:

·         Further develop the UFS’s unique approach to transformation and support the transformation initiatives of the various business units.

·         Act as a transformation resource mechanism within the UFS.

·         Process information related to transformation/advice to relevant university structures.

·         Study institutional transformation and make recommendations.

·         Represent the UFS on various national transformation forums.
