Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, Rural Development, and Extension Home

Description: Centre for Sustainable Agriculture Keywords: Sustainable Agric

The focal point of the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, Rural Development and Extension in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of the Free State, is based upon the assumption that development encompasses the prerequisites of the present generation without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet their needs.

The centre is focused on educating the broader agriculturalist in finding the balance between current and future agrarian and agri-business needs. Our holistic module valuation and short course structure enables us to address the requirements of both vocational and private practitioners via distance education. Course content is reviewed annually by both local and international practitioners to ensure that it is locally relevant and internationally sound.

CENSARDE has a proud track record of graduates who leave the programme well-equipped to address the ever-changing environment of modern-day agriculture. Our philosophy to continuously evaluate current curricula ensures mobility between qualifications and the relevancy thereof. The secondary technological, managerial, and thinking skills embedded in our programmes contributes to well-rounded professionals who are in high demand by both the private and public sectors.
