On 2 February 2024, the Dallmayr Mrs South Africa Semi-finalists for 2024 were announced. Katlego Mogorosi, an alumna of the University of the Free State (UFS), is one of the semi-finalists.  She obtained a BSc in Genetics and a PG Dip in Business Administration at the UFS.

On being selected as one of the semi-finalists, she commented, “It is a meaningful confirmation that I am stepping into a life of positive impact and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.”

She added that besides her decision being guided by her faith and belief in God’s purpose for her life, she believes the Mrs South Africa competition is deeply intertwined with her passion for women entrepreneurship and the well-being of children.

Mogorosi’s journey in entrepreneurship began with the establishment of a coffee business in 2019, where she had the privilege of empowering two women to pursue their dreams. “With the assistance of the provincial government and the Free State Black Business Chamber (FSBBC), I am determined to expand this initiative by providing more women with the tools needed to succeed in the business world,” she said.

She also joined Childline FS to champion the cause of child protection and well-being. “This experience has been incredibly rewarding for me,” she remarked.

Surrounded by others who share a common goal

As stated on its website, the Mrs South Africa™ competition – the leading pageant for married women in SA – prides itself on its commitment to diversity, uplifting, and celebrating women of all creeds, races, religions, cultures, and abilities.

Joani Johnson, CEO of this institution, says that the class of 2024 showcases a formidable, influential group of women. “We received the most entries ever this year, a testament to Mrs South Africa’s incredible reputation and the value we offer to participants. This is truly a transformative journey, providing contestants with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to pursue their dreams and realise their full potential as forces for good.”

Mogorosi, who has participated in numerous workshops and developmental events as part of the competition, said one of her highlights thus far was being surrounded by women who share a common goal of self-improvement and community upliftment, which has helped her recognise that she is not the only one who feels this way.

The top 30 finalists for 2024 will be announced at the Semi-Finals Judging Week and Showcase in early July.
