Camille Claudel 1915, the film we are presenting as the sequel to Camille Claudel (the directors and lead actresses are not the same) has arrived at the UFS library, in time for our commemoration of Rodin Year 2017. We thus have great pleasure as the French Section of the UFS to invite you to this moving portrayal of the last part of Claudel’s life. Please join us in paying tribute to her.

Ciné Club – Congo River

Dear film friends

Congo River on 14 March

Our next film is a documentary not to be missed by the celebrated Belgian director, Thierry Michel. Some of you may have seen other examples of his work, especially Mobutu, king of Zaire, which drew a lot of reaction in South Africa a few years ago. Congo River takes this majestic river as a theme – as the river is the Congolese highway, a documentary about the river is a documentary about the country. The memorable soundtrack is by Congolese musicians.

Afrikaanse filmklublede wat na die Voetspore-span se Kongolese reis gekyk het, sal in die besonder baat vind by ‘n vergelyking tussen die SABC-produksie en hierdie dokumentêr wat verskeie pryse gewen het.
