Notice regarding the election of one representative from the Administrative Staff (including Service Workers) to the UFS Council

The composition of the Council of the University of the Free State (UFS) is stipulated in the UFS Statute, which was published in the Government Gazette on 26 January 2018 and amended by publication in the Government Gazette on 29 March 2019.

An online and manual process to elect one representative from the Administrative Staff (including Service Workers) to the UFS Council will commence on 15 October 2019, following the expiry of the term of office of the current representative on 31 December 2019.

The elected representative will serve for a period of four years on Council.

Online voting process:

An external independent supplier appointed by the UFS is managing the online voting process.

All Administrative Staff members are requested to CLICK HERE for the online voting instructions AND to participate in the online voting process.

Manual voting process:

Employees on Peromnes 15-18 can cast their votes at the following venues on all three campuses:

  1. Bloemfontein Campus: Meeting Administration, Basement, Main Building (Mrs Elsabi Bezuidenhoudt)
  2. Qwaqwa Campus: Protection Services Building (Mr Mbutho Kaulela)
  3. South Campus: Open Distance Learning Support Services and Operations, D05 (Mrs Simoné Nel)

Only staff members on Peromnes 15-18 will be allowed to vote manually, as they will not have access to the electronic voting.

NOTE: The online and manual election processes will open at 09:00 South Africa Standard Time (SAST) on 15 October 2019 and will both close at 16:00 SAST on 14 November 2019.

The name of the successful representative on the UFS Council will be announced after the Council meeting, which takes place on 22 November 2019.
