The brilliant French Horn player, Mark Paine is the soloist in the next concert by the Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO). Mark is Principal Horn of the European Union Chamber Orchestra and Co-Principal Horn with the City of London Sinfonia. In addition, he has also played many times as Guest Principal Horn with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Irish Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, London Concert Orchestra, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He will be playing the Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, opus 11 (Richard Strauss) with the FSSO conducted by Chris Dowdeswell.

To commemorate Felix Mendelssohn’s 200th anniversary, the FSSO includes works by this famous composer in all the programmes. For this concert, the FSSO will play his exciting Symphony No. 4, opus 90 in A major (“Italian”). The concert will start with Bartok’s Rumanian Folk Dances.
