The Odeion String Quartet is 20 years old this year and this concert launches an exciting year for the quartet. The Vanoosthuyse/Strydom clarinet duo is the beginning of a series of concerts. Hereafter they will also play in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Cape Town and Kimberley.

Eddy Vanoosthuyse is the lead clarinet player of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and professor at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. Vanoosthuyse often performs as soloist with some of the foremost orchestras in the world.

Danré Strydom, an ex-student of Heinrich Armer, obtained her B Mus Hons degree with distinction at the University of the Free State. These days she stays in Brussels, where she plays in the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra on a part-time basis. As student she was awarded numerous bursaries and prizes, amongst others from the ATKV, FNB and the FAK.
