Experience:
My professional goal as an applied ecologist and conservation biologist is to promote human-wildlife coexistence. I want to bridge the gap between scientists and practitioners by answering practical conservation-based issues with research. I seek to develop a philosophy that encourages management decisions based on evidence and adaptation, and to foster value for wildlife in communities through education and participation. I completed my PhD in Zoology at the University of Pretoria, investigating population theory using the highly polygynous southern elephant seal as my model organism. I now work for BirdLife South Africa as the Wetland Conservation Project Manager, researching and conserving wetlands for the benefit of biodiversity and society.
