Short CV

Tiana completed her BSocSc in 2003 cum laude and BSocSc Honours (Industrial Psychology) in 2004, also cum laude, at the UFS, after which she completed a master’s degree in Industrial Psychology at the North-West University in 2005. In 2013 she completed a master’s degree in Higher Education Studies at the UFS.

She started her career at the UFS in 2006 as instructional designer and was appointed in 2011 as the head of e-learning in the CTL. In the past few years her position at the Centre has evolved to that of Head: Curriculum Delivery and Innovation. She is currently responsible for the institutional implementation of online/blended learning, course design (including graphic design and multimedia) and assessment, as well as the innovative use of technology in teaching and learning initiatives.

Her research interests focus on institutional perspectives on technology in teaching and learning, including innovative, high-impact course design and assessment practices, and the strategic implementation of various technology solutions. In the past five years she has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences focusing on the digital identity of faculties and students, high-impact course design practices, integrating technology into teaching and learning, and developing assessment practices that foster learning. She is currently completing her PhD on women leadership development in the area of academic technology.
