Gini is currently working as a Senior Assistant Officer in the Unit for Academic Literacy. She obtained the following qualifications with distinction at the University of the Free State: Baccalaureus Artium (2007), Baccalaureus Artium Honores in Afrikaans and Dutch (2008) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (2011). Throughout her studies she has been awarded numerous prizes for academic excellence, among others, the Dean’s Medal for the best Honours student in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Free State. Since her third year as a student, Gini has held various posts on the UFS campus. These include: tutor for a variety of modules/subjects, facilitator for academic literacy in Afrikaans and English, research assistant in the Afrikaans department, and editorial assistant for the academic journal of the Afrikaans Literature Society.
