The ICT Laboratory at the Faculty of Education at the University of the Free State launched its “e-Education in Science and Mathematics” programme at the beginning of 2009 on the Bloemfontein Campus, as well as the Qwaqwa Campus in Phuthaditjhaba. The mission is to enable and encourage more learners and students to enter into science related studies and careers. To accomplish this, learners and students with the necessary potential are exposed to carefully planned ICT Laboratory sessions.
During the sessions the learners engage into curriculum related activities. In order to make provision for the needs of generation Y-learners (techno-clever generation), the advantages of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) are utilised to enhance learners’ understanding of Science and Mathematics principles.
