Short CV

Shingirayi Chamisa is an Industrial Psychologist and holds a PhD in Industrial Psychology from the University of Fort Hare. Her teaching and research interests falls within three themes which are, Positive Psychology more generally, and, in terms of employee and educational coping strategies and wellness; Inequality, diversity and inclusion; Human capital development and Transformation. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in providing her students with the information, tools, and skills they need to be successful in a rapidly changing environment, which is increasingly becoming globalised and automated. As an Industrial Psychologist, it is important to her that students do not only learn psychology and management theories but also get the chance to practice the theories and concepts, as well as engage with real life organisational scenarios and personalities. 

Shingirayi supervises Honours, Masters and PhD research in the department and serves in the EMS Faculty Ethics and the Exams Committees.

In addition to her academic positions, Shingirayi is actively involved in empowering youths in the community through career counselling. She is also involved in the diversion and reintegration of youths in communities as well as programmes geared toward addressing school violence.
