Maritza Olivier was appointed as a junior lecturer in the department of Curriculum Studies in 2009. She obtained her B.Prim.Ed degree Cum Laude in 2003 and her B.Ed. Hons. in Support Teaching in 2005.
Work experience
Seven years teaching experience: Four years in the Foundation Phase (Grade 2 and 3) and three years in Intermediate Phase (Grade 4).
Area of teaching
She teaches in the Foundation Phase for education students on undergraduate level. She also teaches Inclusive Education at honours level.
Research focus
The focus is mainly the learning environment of the Grade 3 (Foundation Phase) and Grade 4 (Intermediate Phase) learner.
Topic of interest
The influence of the learning environment on learner transition from Grade 3 to Grade 4.
