Initial Teacher Education

Our Initial Teacher Education programmes emphasise teaching practice in diverse educational settings and the importance of the social and psychological context of learning. The aim is to prepare caring, accountable, and critical-reflective educational practitioners who can act as change agents in diverse educational contexts.

Prospective students can register for a four-year BEd degree in Education, specialising in Pre-school and Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, or FET Phase. Graduates can obtain a professional teaching qualification, specialising in two or more subjects by way of a one-year full-time or two-year part-time postgraduate certificate in the FET Phase.
