The master's study programme (MTh, MA) is offered as a structured and research programme.

The structured master's programme contains five modules:

  • Introduction to Primary Source Studies
  • Research and Methodology
  • Introduction to Historical Theology
  • Elective, and
  • Thesis.

Upon admission and registration, the student is required to complete all five modules within two (2) years after the date of registration.

The research master's programme contains two modules: Research and Methodology and comprehensive thesis.

The applicant will need to submit the following supporting documents:

  • Certified copies of the applicant’s undergraduate and graduate degree certificates.
  • Academic transcripts of the applicant’s undergraduate and graduate degrees.
  • Two academic reference letters. The reference letters can be sent directly by the referent to neeleac@ufs.ac.za and EmmaAdamahVU@ufs.ac.za
  • If English is not the applicant’s first language, the applicant will need to demonstrate proficiency in English by taking an IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE academic test. Please include the test results with the application.
  • Upon admission and registration, the student is required to complete all five module within two (2) years after the date of registration.
