Relevant related work experience and current position:

Currently employed since January 2007 as a Control Medical Physicist with responsibility for research in the Department of Medical Physics, Bloemfontein, for research and supervision of post graduate students doing research.

I have previously had involvement in radiation protection dosimetry and have published results of staff doses previously.

I contributed a chapter to a book on diagnostic radiology radiation protection. I have been a Radiation Protection Officer at various State Hospitals in South Africa, and have been responsible for radiation protection in various hospitals over several years.

I have current research interests in

1. Computer Aided Diagnosis in Mammography: Correlation of Regions in Multiple Standard Mammographic Views of the Same Breast.

2. Image analysis and tissue characterisation.

3. Cardiac MRI.

4. Quality Assurance in Radiology.

Ten years experience in Clinical Nuclear Medicine Medical Physics in a team of Medical Physicists at Addington Hospital, Durban, which was accredited as a training institution, but only created training posts late during that time and so started training of Intern Medical Physicists in 2006.

Nine years experience as the sole Medical Physicist in Port Elizabeth Provincial Hospital doing Clinical Radiotherapy Medical Physics and general Medical Physics.
