I hold a Ph.D. from the University of the Free State in 2022, where I am also a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Language Practice. I teach interpreting and translation on undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervise both MA and PhD students in Translation and Interpreting Studies, Semiotics and Environmental Humanities.
With regard to research, my areas of focus include ecosemiotics, eco-translation, knowledge translation, translation and activism, and interspecies translation and interpreting. I am currently completing my first monograph, entitled “Interpreting, communication and animal welfare: An ecosemiotic analysis of interspecies translation” with De Gruyter Mouton. I am part of the Eco-translation Network, an international network of scholars working on translation, ecology and environment.
