Short CV

Luzanne Eigelaar obtained the degrees BMus (2012), BMusHons (2013), and MMus (2017) from the University of the Free State, cum laude. She received numerous prizes during her studies, such as the Hennie Joubert Merit Prize as a result of her UNISA Grade 7 music theory results (2010), SAFO bursary during the Vrystaatse Kunswedstryd (2011 & 2013) as well as study bursaries from the Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society for her undergraduate studies (2011 in Roodepoort) and honours studies (2012 in Bronkhorstspruit). In addition, during the UNISA South African Music Study Bursary Competition, she was announced as the runner-up and received the Hennie Joubert Musiekvriendekringprys. Furthermore, she received the Kunstetrust Akademiese Eerbewys for the best third-year student in organ and the Fanie Beetge prize for the best undergraduate student in Systematic Music Studies due to her BMus studies. In 2016 she received the Fanie Beetge prize for the best postgraduate student in Performing Art. She participated in the SASRIM conferences of 2014 and 2015. In 2021 she attended the PASMAE conference. Luzanne is currently a music teacher at C&N Primêre Meisieskool Oranje and a part-time lecturer at the Odeion School of Music (music theory, aural skills, keyboard skills, and music education). She is also a Ph.D. student at the North-West University researching the teaching and learning experiences of South Africa regarding first-year BMus music theory courses.
