Short CV

Danrè Strydom was born in South Africa and started her music training in Windhoek (Namibia). After attending the Intelochen Arts Camp (USA) she continued her studies with Heinrich Armer at the University of the Free State. On completion of her Honors degree (cum laude), she received a scholarship to study at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music in Indiana (USA). Here she studied with the renowned clarinetists, Eli Eban and Eric Hoeprich. After receiving her solo performance diploma with highest achievement she completed two Masters degrees (cum laude) in Belgium at the Royal College of Music (Ghent) under the guidance of Eddy Vanoosthuyse, principal clarinetist of the Brussels Philharmonic. Danrè played ad hoc for the Brussels Philharmonic for five years, recording several successful soundtracks, including that of the Oscar-winning film, The Artist. She is now woodwind lecturer at the Odeion School of Music (UFS), where she is completing her PhD studies.

MUSP1502 (Clarinet) This module comprises studies in instrumental/vocal proficiency through engagement with musical repertoire. MUSP1502 represents study of a second instrument with the artistic and technical command varying from entrance to more advanced levels.

MUSP2612 This module applies to beginner tuition. It focuses on the development of knowledge and insight on the different levels of practical tuition, development of skills for a specific instrument, aspects of the lessons situation as well as the handling of challenges in the context of a music lesson. This includes learning styles as well as teaching philosophies. The aim of this module is to equip every student with the necessary skills to be a well balanced and well informed teacher.
MUSP2622 This module applies to the tuition of advanced pupils. It focuses on the development of knowledge and insight on the different levels of practical tuition, development of skills for a specific instrument, aspects of the lessons situation as well as the handling of challenges in the context of a music lesson. This includes learning styles as well as teaching philosophies. This module is a continuation of the ideal set in the first semester to develop balanced and well informed teachers.
