Short CV

Ninette Pretorius was born in Windhoek (Namibia) and matriculated at the Afrikaans High School in Kroonstad in 1994. She started her BMus studies in 1995 at the University of the Free State where she received piano lessons from Kenau Beck.  Besides receiving three academic merit prizes, she also received the FAK music bursary, the CSD bursary and the Cowley-Trust bursary. During her studies (1998 – 2000) she was also part-time junior lecturer at the UFS Department of Music (Aural Training). In 2000 she obtained her BMusHons degree (cum laude) with specialization in piano under Prof Albie van Schalkwyk. From 2001 – 2004 she was appointed as music tutor at the Mmabana Cultural Centre in Thaba Nchu where she taught piano and voice training. She was later appointed manager of the Music and Folkloric Units of the same centre. Ninette is currently concert coordinator, venue manager and professional officer at the Odeion School of Music.
