Short CV

Kali Nena, Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of the Free State (UFS), currently teaches two first year modules (SOCI1514 and SOCI1624). In addition, he is the coordinator of Sociology within the University Preparation Programme (UPP) of the UFS, which is aimed at students who could not gain direct entry into the university. The programme is offered at various UFS satellite campuses countrywide. Mr Nena holds a Master’s degree in Sociology, and is currently working at attaining a PhD qualification.

    Courses Presented

    SOCI1514: An introduction to Sociology. This module introduces students to the discipline of sociology and focuses on sociological approaches, assumptions, basic concepts, theories and methods

    SOS164: Sociology for Postgraduate Diploma Nursing Students. A module dealing with employment relations for nursing professionals.

    SOCI1624: Social institutions and social change. The module gives students the ability to analyse social institutions and their change using concepts and theories studied in SOCI1514
