Short CV

Leane Ackermann obtained her M.Soc.Sc. [cum laude] at the University of the Free State with a dissertation titled: An exploration of the underlying social dynamics that make women vulnerable to HIV infection.  She was appointed as a Professional Officer in the Department in 1992 and later as a Junior Lecturer (1998) and Lecturer (from 2002). In this time she has enjoyed lecturing a variety of under and postgraduate modules.  She currently lectures SOCI 1532 (Sociology for Nursing Students), SOCI 1514 (An Introduction to Sociology) and SOCI 1624 (Social Change and Social Institutions) and SCSI2616 (An Introduction to Social Science in Africa).

She has published in peer-reviewed journals on a variety of sociological topics and has co-authored one book.
