• Practical programme on Learning Level 5.
  • Consist of a minimum of 40 hours of online classes presented over period suitable for participants, 1½ week (full days) or 6 weeks (shorter sessions), dependent on the number of participants selecting the specific delivery period.
  • Broadly covers the concept of mediation within the field of civil law in South African, the nature and procedures of mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism, the South African social environment, the elements of conflict, and the skills to resolves disputes.
  • Participants can select to specialise in 1 (one) of the following areas (dependent on the number of participants selecting the specific focus area):

      - family mediation,
      - mediation in labour/employment relations, 
      - mediation within business and/or construction industry,
      - medico-legal mediation, or
      - educational mediation.

  • Participants will be assessed through formative assignments, and a summative role-play assessment supervised by a trained mediator.
  • Requirements for admission:

      - Option 1: Grade 12 (Senior Certificate); or
      - Option 2: Where the applicant does not possess a Senior Certificate:
        · Minimum age of 23;
        · 
Grade 10 with language proficiency in English (any language level) of at least 50%;
        · 
Proof of five (5) years of uninterrupted work experience; and
        · 
Recommendation letter from a current supervisor/manager.
