I am a NRF Rated Law Professor with over 23 years’ experience in academia and specialising in various aspects of human rights law. I have both a BProc and LLB degrees from the then University of Natal, Durban and a Doctorate from Unisa. My most recent qualification is the CrteDE from the University of Maryland in Washington.
In addition to my contributions to the teaching and learning environment, I have published widely in accredited journals, spoken at several national and international conferences and been recognized through various awards. In pursuance of engaged scholarship initiatives, I sit as chair and a member of different committees, boards and non-profits organisations.
I am an admitted Advocate and since 2019 I sit on occasion, as an Acting Judge in various divisions of the High Court of South Africa. Most recently I have been appointed as an Acting Judge of the Limpopo Division of the High Court. As an academic, advocate and part-time member of the judiciary, I find myself in a unique position to pursue amongst other goals advocacy initiatives, social justice and reform, access to justice and constitutional transformation initiatives from different platforms.
