Dr Liezl Dick

Liezl Dick obtained a BA, Honours in Philosophy and MA in Philosophy (in Bio-medical ethics) from the University of Stellenbosch, and holds a PhD in Higher Education Studies from the University of the Free State. Liezl worked as a research fellow at The Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice from 2017-2018. Her research focus is centred around social cohesion and transformation in higher education, with a specific focus on the affective dimension of racialisation and racism. Other research interests include arts-based research methodologies, performative texts and its role in affective becomings, as well as the impact of rapid social transformation on educator identities and educational practices. She has co-edited the book Different faces and practices of decolonization: The challenges of critically informed academia in polarizing times (SUNmedia, 2019) and is currently co-authoring Subjectivity and social change (Bloomsbury, 2020).
