Social behaviour encompasses, amongst others, the activity patterns, territoriality, social groupings (solitary, pairs, bachelor herds, female herds, mixed herds, family herds, etc.), seasonal changes in groupings, gender composition of herds, habitat selection, reproductive behaviour, competition, of game species. This can be determined by means of visual observations of animals, together with the use of technology such as collars.
