The 5th International Field Workshop for Young Hydrogeologists

The workshop was organised by the University of Silesia (Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Students Scientific Association of Hydrogeologists), Polish National Chapter of International Association of Hydrogeologists, and Polish Association of Hydrogeologist, and held from 25 June 2014 to 27 June 2014 in Sosnowiec (Poland).

The workshop involved three working days (plenary sessions, poster session, field trips, and training). The focus of the workshop was on mining hydrogeology, groundwater quality, and protection in areas subjected to intensive drainage (by mines and well fields). Dr Modreck Gomo gave an oral presentation and Mr Paul Lourens presented a poster.

As part of the field trips, we visited Zinc-Lead Pomorzany Mine (Active) in Olkush and Silver Mine (Abandoned) in the Tarnowskie Gory.
