Health Sciences (1)

Ardour is a unique new co-ed first-year residence established in January 2020 and forming part of the vibrant East College cluster. It is the first on-campus residence designed to accommodate primarily first-year students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, catering for their needs by providing a living and learning space that is conducive to supporting their demanding academic programme. This is achieved with the assistance of our competent, innovative, and determined student leaders appointed as residence assistants (RA), as well as our ambitious residence head. Our beautiful residence is also one of the largest on-campus residences, with a capacity of 250 beds.

Our focus is to support students to excel academically and to invest in their holistic development. We encourage them to aspire to be well-rounded individuals by participating in the Residence Life programmes, building meaningful relationships in the student community, and making use of other on-campus support structures. That said, our living and learning environment allows students to excel in their own right, both academically and personally.

The residence serves as the perfect nurturing second home for the new Health Sciences students at the University of the Free State. Our strength lies in our diversity and unique skills, showing Kovsies that our residence is a force to be reckoned with. We encourage the joint development of a culture that inspires, motivates, and supports the individuality of students.
