CLASSE is an adaptation of SASSE and is used to examine student engagement at the classroom level.

CLASSE consists of two instruments: CLASSEStudent asks students how frequently they engage in various educational practices within a specific module, and CLASSELecturer asks the lecturer of that module how important the various educational practices are in facilitating student success. Student and lecturer outcomes are then contrasted to identify possible gaps between behaviours lecturers deem important for the specific module, and the extent to which students engage in those behaviours.

CLASSE results can help pinpoint engaging pedagogical practices, shape teaching and learning experiences, and inform lecturer development activities.
