Programme options

Please note: NSFAS funds the Higher Certificates but not if you fail a module or if you are a repeater. If you are a repeater you must pay your own studies. NSFAS also does not fund the University Access Programme (UAP) offered in Oudtshoorn.

The programmes are presented in the following regions (option availability varies for the different regions):

Admission requirements:

 General minimum admission requirements:
• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate: Vocational (NCV) Level 4, or an AP of 18 - 24 for admission to Bachelors Degree.
• Four subjects on level 3 (40%–49%).
• Language of instruction on level 3 (40%) for all options.

Faculty-specific admission requirements:
Economic and Management Sciences: 
• Commerce route study option: Mathematics on level 3 (40%) or higher.
• Administration route study option: Mathematics is not a requirement to study this option. The duration of the course is four years. 
• NB: You will not be allowed to change from an Administration to a Commerce programme.

You ONLY score one (1) point if you achieve a level 5 (60%) for Life Orientation

Helpful hints before you apply:

When you complete your online application and get to stage 5 were you have to complete the Study choice part, the info below will be of great help and will guide you.

Online application, step 5, study choices

  • Under ‘First academic study choice’ click on the ‘Undergraduate’ block.
  • Then continue with:
    • Year for which you want to apply: 2021
    • Starting semester: First semester
    • Faculty: Choose between the Humanities or Economic and Management Sciences
    • Campus: South Campus
    • Location: Choose where you want to attend class, e.g. Bethlehem, Welkom, South Campus
    • Level of study: Undergraduate
    • Type of qualification: Higher Certificate (either Humanities or Economic and Management Sciences)
    • Academic programme: This will correspond with your choice in ‘Type of qualification’ above
    • Academic plan: This will correspond with your choice in the two blocks above.
