Engaged Learning Festiva

Programme description


The UFS, in partnership with Bloemshelter, organises an annual learning festival, which is an inclusive educational event that offers opportunities for all people to come together on an equal platform to share, learn or extend skills, knowledge, and expertise leading to a sustainable livelihood. While the overarching theme changes every year, the learning festival focuses on activities that aim to promote access to lifelong action learning, access to and establishment of networks for development, skills transfer and growth, sustainable livelihood, self-employment, business development, balance in the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit, caring and social capital development, conversion and positive socio-economic and environmental change, enhancement of dual economy (civil and public), and transformation.


Programme content


The programme involves

  • partnership building;
  • advocacy and knowledge sharing;
  • skills training and development;
  • engaged citizenship for UFS students;
  • networking; and
  • engaged research.
communities takes responsibility

The festival is an opportunity for communities to take responsibility to develop and empower themselves.
