The Academic Planning (AP) unit seeks to promote strategic alignment of academic planning with the institutional mission and national requirements. Key to our work is conceptualisation and planning related to the shape and nature of the knowledge areas that form the framework for the university’s academic programmes.

We provide strategic leadership in academic planning and all its endeavours. This includes providing guidance in the design and delivery of quality programmes across the university and the alignment of programmes with the Higher Education Qualifications Framework (HEQF). This section is also responsible for the development and implementation of quality enhancement activities, including the interface with the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education, the Department of Higher Education and the South African Qualifications Authority.
