Governance and Political Transformation

The core ideas and concepts regarding Governance explain the manner of governing and the actions and interactions of government. It explains how government makes decisions, how the government acts in the interest of the people and the citizens and how the government in collaboration with other stakeholders and networks governs the country. Governance deals with the manifestation of good governance practices for example, accountability, responsibility, transparency, public participation, efficiency and effectiveness.

Significance of Governance and Political Transformation

As citizens of South Africa, we are aware of the difficulties and the challenges facing this country. Issues such as corruption, mal-administration, poor leadership and poor governance (lack of accountability, responsibility and transparency) are hampering the successful and prosperous country we can be. The different qualifications in Governance and Political Transformation are thus essential for the prosperity of South Africa. In the study of Governance, it is important to analyse, evaluate and measure governance practices in South Africa. With scientific knowledge, analytical skills, strategic management and general background of governance and political transformation learners can make a real difference in the country by improving the good governance practices.
