The Department of SASL and Signals had various activities throughout September 2016. SASL students as well as Deaf students at the UFS met for a picnic and games on the grass in front of the Main Building. Students had time for fun and relaxation with friends and classmates while awareness took place.

UFS Got Talent was hosted on the Thakaneng Bridge. Deaf students and SASL students participated in the talent competition that included dance, songs, poems, and stories. Nyasha Chikiwa won the talent show with a comedy. Miss Signals 2016 was crowned during this event. Mpho Mosholi walked away with the honour.

Deaf Awareness Month ended with a church service at the Dutch Reformed Church in Langenhovenpark. As during the previous year, the Bartimea choir performed in SASL.
