SCOPE OF INFORMATION


Short Description of the SLP: In this SLP, the participants will be introduced to rituals as powerful verbal and non-verbal phenomena that can be used to create contextual, transcultural- and countercultural worship events. There will be a specific focus on the different ritual opportunities in Christian worship to educate, comfort, celebrate and bring hope.

Programme Structure: Describe the concept of rituals - as expressed individually and communally - in the Christian faith;
Discuss the uses and influence of rituals in the worship services, including moral formations and affirmation, celebration, and pastoral care;
Explain the power of rituals as contextual, transcultural, and countercultural events; 
Describe the different ritualistic opportunities in worship services, especially communion; 
Plan a communion service with a specific focus on rituals.
