Regional hubs play a crucial role in mobilising experts for knowledge sharing, co-creation, and dissemination.
 


Ideas for regional hubs of GMBA:

  • Expert bioblitzes of an unexplored hotspot are a good approach to develop a core hub of regional specialists providing a range of taxonomic expertise

    • Involve key biodiversity players/institutions (e.g. SANBI and counterparts in the SA region)
    • Be clear about benefits/opportunities and data sharing for GMBA/hub membership by participants
    • Clear goals and targets, e.g. contributing to first Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment
    • Leverage regional opportunities and conferences/workshops for network building, e.g. SAMC2025
