What does the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Theology and Religion mean?
Prof Rantoa Letšosa, Dean of the faculty, says that although this is a year of celebration, it is also one of reflection, introspection, and provides an opportunity for robust debate about the past of the faculty. Prof Letšosa adds: “At the same time, it allows us to look to the future and at what we should be focusing on, looking at how we can be more relevant, how we can be more meaningful to society, the churches, and the community. We also want to see how we can have a larger local and global impact through inter- and multidisciplinary conversations.”
The theme for this year’s celebrations in the faculty is ‘Transforming Theology and Religion’. Prof Letšosa says this signifies “relooking what we are doing and what we should do, as well as correcting the past”.
