Short CV

Prof Frans Prinsloo has served as the Director: School of Accountancy since 1 April 2019.  Prof Prinsloo is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and holds the following degrees from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela University): 

  • 1993: BCom Accounting (cum laude)
  • 1994: BCom Hons (Accounting) (cum laude)
  • 1996: MCom (Accounting) (cum laude)

He wrote and passed the Chartered Accountant`s Qualifying Examinations in 1994, and was placed third in South Africa in Part 2 (the Auditing component) of this examination.

Prior to being appointed at the University of the Free State in 2019, Prof Prinsloo was a professor of Auditing at the Nelson Mandela University, having also served as the Director of its School of Accounting from 2007 to 2016.  He has also served as a member of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors` (IRBA`s) Committee for Auditing Standards from 1999 to 2012, as well as a member of SAICA`s Initial Professional Development Committee from 2013 to 2016.  Prof Prinsloo continues to participate actively in the professional education activities of SAICA, most recently contributing to the development of the CA2025 Competency Framework suite of documents.

He is an author or editor of a range of Auditing textbooks which are widely prescribed at South African universities, and has published a number of scholarly articles.
