The Work of the Unit for Institutional Change and Social Justice
The vision of the Unit for Institutional Change and Social Justice is to create a socially more just and inclusive university through institutional change that involves high impact practices and innovative research and advocacy.
The unit has an office for Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination on all three campuses. Our work is aligned with the UFS Strategic Plan and the goals of the Integrated Transformation Plan, which serves as the implementation tool of the Strategic Plan. The unit initiates research projects and provide institutional support to achieve the transformation objectives of the UFS and handle incidents of unfair discrimination, gender-based violence, as well as conducting advocacy and training in these areas.
