Short Description of the SLP: |
The purpose of this course is to provide politicians, disaster management practitioners, municipal officials and other role players involved and interested in disaster risk management, with the basic background knowledge and information regarding the full spectrum of disaster management and the implications of the disaster management Act on local government, private sector and other role players. |
Programme Structure: |
The SLP content comprises of the following relevant themes, therefore on completion of the SLP participants will be able to: - Defining disaster management, disaster mitigation and related concepts - Understand Principles of disaster management - Understand the Disaster Management Act 57 of 2002 as amended Act 16 of 2015. - Understand the Disaster Management Framework - Understand different roles and responsibilities of local authorities (District and Local Municipalities), NGOs, private sector and other role players in terms of the Disaster Management Act and the Disaster Management Framework - Understand Post disaster assessment - Understand Post disaster recovery and development |
