Khanya B Motshabi is an international and constitutional lawyer who has taught at the Universities of the North-West, the Witwatersrand and Cape Town. He is a former Fulbright Scholar at the Dedman School of Law of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was a Scholar in Residence at the Centre for Human Rights Studies of Columbia University, New York. He has been a Visitor at University College London in the United Kingdom. He is an Honouree of the Junior Chamber International, which named him one of the Four Outstanding Young South Africans. He is a former UCT Graduate School of Business/ Financial Mail Distinguished Speaker.

He served for twenty-four years as a legal advisor, manager, senior executive and board director, mainly in the private sector. Since return to the academy, he has lectured legal writing (LPRC 2514), international law (LINT 4824) and environmental law (LENV 4824). He currently teaches constitutional equality (LPUB 4814) along with constitutional property and socio-economic rights (LPUB 4824). His writings span such disciplines as law, management, culture, and insurance. He contributed to the anthologies, Educating and Developing Managers for a Changing South Africa and Sanctions Against Apartheid and is a sometime contributor to the Annual Survey of South African Law. He co-edited Cultural Synergy in South Africa: Weaving Strands of Africa and Europe and The Dispute Resolution Digest 2014. His early journal articles include ‘International Law and the United States Raid on Libya’ and ‘Towards Democratic Chieftaincy: Principles and Procedures’. His latest journal articles comprise ‘Decolonising the University: A Law Perspective’ and ‘Observational Critique of FIRAC as a Tool for Legal Analysis’ (co-authored). Shortly forthcoming is ‘Decolonising Affirmative Action in 21st Century Africa: Reparatory Alternatives for Affirming South Africa’. He is a Fellow of the London, United Kingdom based 21^st Century Trust and a Fellow of the Fulbright Programme.
