Short CV

Trevor Trymore Chiweshe was born in Zimbabwe where he attended his high school. He enrolled at the University of the Free State in 2004 and he obtained his Bachelors and Honours degree in 2006 and 2008 respectively. He did his Masters in Analytical Chemistry at the same institution where he specialized in developing methods for the quantification of rhodium in inorganic and organometallic compounds. He completed his MSc in 2009 and was awarded PET LAB award for his outstanding research project. Trevor is currently busy with his PhD in the same field and has expanded his research topic to cover the entire platinum group metals (PGM) and gold (Au). His research is mostly centered on the quantification of PGM and Au using spectrometric techniques such as XRF, ICP-OES/MS etc.

Trevor has attended more than 5 conferences and are listed below:

1. Poster presentation, The effect of acid concentration on the percentage recovery of rhodium in inorganic compounds using ICP-OES, Inorganic Conference (INORG 2009), University of the Free State,13-17/09/ 2009
2. Departmental oral presentation, Quantitative determination of rhodium in series of inorganic and organometallic compounds, Chemistry department, University of the Free State, 04/05/2010
3. Poster presentation, Quantification of rhodium in inorganic and organometallic compounds, University of Stellenbosch, 06/12/2010
4. Oral presentation, Quantification and the influence of metal contaminants in the spectrometric determination of PGM and Au, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), 28/11/2011
5. Oral presentation, Quantification and the influence of metal contaminants in the spectrometric determination of PGM and Au, ZrTa2011, Magaliesberg, 12-14/10/2011
