Minimum Entry Requirement

NB: Read through all the guidelines!

• Entries are open to all staff and students across all three UFS campuses.
  
• You can enter as a singing group or solo singing item.
• In the case of group submissions, all group members must be registered first-year students at the University of the Free State.
• Group submissions are limited to six (6) members per group.
  

Music Genres

You can sing any song of your choice from the following genres:
• Contemporary Jazz/ R&B
• Soul
• Pop / Popular Music
NB: The song used to audition should be the same song you will sing at the concert.

Important Dates

Phase 1: Online video submission
- Closing date for submissions: Friday 22 July 2022 at 12:00.
Phase 2: Pre-selection
•  Date: 22 - 26 July 2022
•  Invitations to be sent to selected performers.
Phase 3: Final auditions: 29 July 2022.

Entry Format

• Entries must be submitted in video format.
• The video should not exceed 90 seconds (1,5 minutes).
• The video should be in MP4 format.
• Cellphone videos are allowed.
• The video should not be modified or edited.
• Submit one entry per person or group.
• If you are submitting as a group, only one representative in the group is required to complete the online form and provide other group members’ details.
• For solo items, the video performance should consist of a single voice (no background singers) with a single instrument accompaniment or a cappella only.
• For group items, the video performance should consist of voices with a single instrument accompaniment or a cappella only.
• Video performances featuring band backing, studio programming, voice correction and enhancing will not be considered, as we are looking for authentic singing and performing.
• The use of backtracks or acoustic accompaniment is allowed.

Submission of Entries

• All submissions should be made using the online platform below – no email submissions will be allowed.
  
• The purpose of the online entry is to identify performers who are suitable for the concert.
• The concert will serve as a platform for high-ability singers to showcase their musical talents.
• Selected singers will perform the song used in the video presentation.
• You will not be allowed to change your song.
• If you are selected after the virtual presentation stage, you will be invited to perform in-person in Bloemfontein. All COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
